Pilot Scheme on Seed Crop Insurance (PSSCI) :

Salient Features

12. GENERAL

    1. The Scheme will be in operation as per the above provisions for three years after which it will be reviewed to incorporate necessary amendments such that the scheme is made financially viable. However the insurer may revise the premium rates at one-year interval depending upon the claim experience. At the end of the each season a Committee comprising of representatives from MOA, General Insurance Corporation of India, Seed Producing Organizations and State Seed Certification Agencies may review progress of the scheme.

    2. State Seed Certification Agencies shall provide crop/ variety-wise amount of seed certified in the preceding three/ five years and Seed Producing Organizations / State Govt. shall provide crop/ variety-wise procurement price to General Insurance Corporation of India in order to ascertain Sum Insured.

    3. Seed Producing Organizations shall exercise all the possible control measures to ensure that the growers fulfill all of their commitments and shall facilitate timely reporting of losses and shall extend full cooperation to the Insurer without prejudice.

    4. The Certification agency shall make available copy of Registration, all the inspection reports, laboratory test results from time to time to General Insurance Corporation of India. Certification Agency shall perform their assigned role and shall discharge all the responsibilities as required under various relevant Acts, rules etc. Any lapses in this regard shall absolve the Insurer from their liability, if any, and the same shall shift to the defaulting Agency.
